I want to get a cutting torch attachment for my torch handle (Victor 100C).  This is an outfit I used for commercial refrigeration years ago when I was doing a lot of brazing and didn't want to fool with the little tanks.  Right now I'm using a little HVAC outfit with a cutting attachment but I run out of gas really quick and want to set up the Victor again.  I've looked on the welding supply sites as well as ebay and there seem to be a lot of choices and price variation.  I'd like to get a cutting attachment with a assortment of tips and thought I'd get some input here since I was not sure what to go with from the web sites.  Are there other attachments compatible with this handle, is there a kit with several tips, would I be better buying a dedicated cutting handle?Any help appreciated.  Steve Attached ImagesLincoln Pro Mig 180Everlast PowerARC 200
Reply:OAdoctor here can tell you for sure exactly what parts would fit that torch handle.I was never a big fan of combo torches for cutting. I personally prefer a dedicated cutting torch and a seperate torch handle with heating tips myself, but I don't frequently need to swap back and forth. If I swapped frequently, I'd either add QD's to the gas lines  and torches, or grit my teeth and use the combo torch..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:The attachment for the Victor seems pretty expensive.  Lowes' has a Lincoln/Harris kit that has everything (regulators, hoses, handle, etc) for $179.00.  What do you think?  I'm mostly concerned with getting tips for it to handle various thicknesses.  SteveLincoln Pro Mig 180Everlast PowerARC 200
Reply:I prefer straight torches but if you aren't going to cut much, combo kits are priced cheap. It's just the way price/product differentiation rolls. I suggest the Smith Toughcut for about 185 bucks online. USA made and has excellent tips which last a long time. LP and propylene tips are available. Reply:stephenstilts, I have bought many torches for resale (most of them) on eBay. As a rule they are in good shape, but occasionally one needs work. Usually I can get Victor torches rebuilt locally for less than $50.I use the torch that has multiple tips for welding and the cutting head, like your 100c wants. These pieces aren't going to get any cheaper, as everything has moved to China for production now and the sellers on eBay are mostly aware of the trend. The torch shown was made before 1950 (bronze tubes) and I paid $19. for it (shipping included) on eBay 4 years ago. I did have it rebuilt and it works like a new one Good luck in your search. Reply:I just caught your eariler post that the 1050 is not the one, oh well.  I bid on it and won it but I emailed the seller to see if I could cancel.  If not, no big deal.  That's what I get for being in a hurry.  Lincoln Pro Mig 180Everlast PowerARC 200
Reply:keep in mind that there are 2 different tips   Victor compatible is most common,  and Harris tips which are a pain to get if you don't have a local dealer.    Lincoln and harris used to be the same, not sure now.   most of the Harbor freight torches are victor compatible too.Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250
