I wanted to get one of those Dewalt or Milwalkee cut off saws. i am mainly cutting tube smaller than 2x2 no more than .125 wallMost of it will be 1.25x .060 wall. I have a band saw for the really thick stuff its just a bitch to do miters on.So all the 14" blades im looking at are over $100 each. Thanks

Reply:you get what you pay for here.  the quality and lifespan of the type of carbide used on the bits costs money.  you can get an evolution 14" blade for $90 delivered on ebay, but running it on a standard chop saw will kill it as its designed to run at 1300rpm not 3500 rpm.     just use a standard wood cutting carbide blade. works for metal too, just won't  last that long.   If you are doing a lot of cutting just but the right tool for the job....Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250
Reply:I don't have a saw like you're asking about, so not much to add except I have heard heard good things about the Freud Diablo blades.  Quick search shows them to be in the $100 range also. Good Luck.
Reply:You get what you pay for -- unless someone's tricking you into paying them way too much.  Freud Diablo metal cutting blades are made in Italy and only $40 a pop from Cripe Distributing.  Some people don't like them.  Most do.http://www.cripedistributing.com/fre...de-p-1467.htmlJack OlsenMy garage website

Reply:You asked if there was a better way to do the miters.  If you have the money to invest and the shop space, a horiz bandsaw would be a better way.  You can cut more than one at a time accurately, and it requires less care than a dry cut saw to preserve the blade.  I personally only have a dry cut saw b/c  most of my work is mobile which makes the dry cut saw the most practical.  If I did more shop work, a horiz bandsaw would be one of my first purchases.

Reply:Originally Posted by tbone550I guess I don't follow you on this one.  Do you not have a roller table or stands?  Or is it that your saw has an angle vise and the saw isn't turned so you can get the piece in when the vise is angled?  Just trying to understand your situation.EDIT: I reread your first post - somehow I missed that you had a horiz bandsaw.  Sorry for suggesting you needed one.  Still not clear on why it doesn't work out.
