Hi, I have a V205T that's about 5 years old but I've used it perhaps a dozen times. Now it has a problem. It will only hold a current for 1/2 second. It's the same in DC or AC. Can't figure out why. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Reply:John, Do you really think that was helpful? Let me lay it out for you. I'm serving overseas with the US military and I can't just take it to my friendly neighborhood Lincoln service center. Even if I was back in the states, I obviously could send it in or take it somewhere, but regardless, I came here to see if anyone knowledgeable might have some idea or simple solution that I may have overlooked. Your comment is a slap in the face.I have already contacted Lincoln trouble shooters and they are going to try to send me some info about trouble shooting the inards so I guess I'll just rely on them from now on. Thanks anyway.

Reply:I remember seeing one a long time ago that would blink the output light for just an instant, then delay and blink again. I don't recall even checking for actual output. I am almost certain that the problem turned out to be a bad output clamp PC board. I seem to recall a large board mounted diode on the upper right corner of the board had shorted. I didn't try replacing the component; I just replaced the whole board.Good luck,Bob
Reply:Have you tried resetting all settings back to factory or default? That is what I'd do, and then I would call Lincoln. |
