My dad does lawn care and he is getting older and my mom said she wants me to build him a ramp that can attach to his tailgate on his tundra. does any body have any ideas?Lincoln 140 Pak MIG Everlast powerarc 140 STLincoln Tombstone
Reply:What are you going to run up the ramp?Could you replace the tailgate with a ramp that folds in the middle, instead of trying to attach something?

If a rider, is it a zero turn or a wheel steered model? Need a little more info here to make any good recommendations.
Reply:For a push mower a piece of 1/2" plywood/OSB about 6' long and a little wider than the mower and a couple of bedframe angles under it to stiffen it. Hold the angles back from the top edge a couple of inches so the wood will lay flat on the tailgate. Then he can just slide it in on edge alongside the mower. Light and easy to handle.                                                                  MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw

Make it just slightly less than the length of the truck bed. It would be light and easy to move, and inexpensive. Just put several coats of paint on it to make it last. I don't see a real need to make this a welding project, that would cost more and the mower may not roll over too well. But if you just HAD to make it a welding project, you could use two 2x2x1/8"(or 1 1/2x1 1/2 x1/8")  angle iron with some 1x1/8" flat stock between them the width of the mower wheels should suffice. Again, less than the length of the truck bed so as to be able to close the tailgate without the ramp hanging over.

Reply:I'd go ahead and put an electric hoist in the rear corner of the bed. This year it's the push mower next year it's the easy go wheelchair. He's not getting any younger lol and while your at it better tell maw you're gonna need some new tools!
