Does anyone know where in N Ca to buy these 16"x12' interlocking mats? The military used them for portable landing fields for quite a while.
Reply:is this the same a perforated steel plank? i don't know where they're located but check calumet industries.i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla

Reply:That is exactly what I am talking about, but would hate to see the freight. I wonder if anyone has seen any around Marine or surplus yards they are willing to sell.  I built a 12' x 75 ' launch ramp extension for these drought years. They want to widen and lengthen it some.

Reply:I rechecked and these are actually 10' long.  As far as traction, they work great upside down, almost too much, we have to watch of sharp or bent edges. We've used the same set since the drought in the 70's, water does take a toll, but they still function. The last 10 years I've actually stored them under water so they just show up when I need them.  I just get complaints that its not wide enough and cutting tires. At least we can still launch boat! Most Ca lakes can't.  They still used them in Iraq, but used an aluminum plank for runways. I could even use the aluminum ones if I could find them.Last edited by blackbart; 08-23-2015 at 04:21 PM.
