Reply:thanks Bob, I am going to try and restore it back to a decent looking machine. I bought it to use, but I want it to look good also. will keep ya'll posted on progress. In case anyone is wondering where the gorilla comment came from, about 5 years ago, I was in Alabama drilling ( directional) a 4 in gas line in for a road road widening project . the welder on the job was a local who had somehow passed his test. he welded a pull head on the pipe for me to pull with. in the process of trying to pull it back I pulled the head off. it was on a sat and he was not working so I welded it back on and finished the pull back. The following monday when he came in and saw my weld , he ask " what G.. D.. gorilla welded that" my return was "the gorilla that made it hold" BTW he did'nt last to long , the inspector ran him offthe gorilla that made it hold Ranger 8 15 yrs old SP150 mig 25 yrs old several Victor sets Snap On 130 mig 25 yrs old Lincoln 225 buzz box SA200 F163 78 mdl they all work just added a Idealarc 250/250
Reply:Got it home yesterday, 78 mdl . I am going to need a few pieces of sheet metal for it. the cover for the exciter end is gone, luckely they tup a plastic bucket over it and it is dry also the mag side door is gone. otherwise the sheetmetal is in good shape. wireing looks fair, and the rad was full. going to check it out shortlythe gorilla that made it hold Ranger 8 15 yrs old SP150 mig 25 yrs old several Victor sets Snap On 130 mig 25 yrs old Lincoln 225 buzz box SA200 F163 78 mdl they all work just added a Idealarc 250/250
Reply:Glad to hear it papa65, We're anxious for the road test and pictures!
Reply:spent a couple of hours this afternoon checking it out . seem to have pretty good compression, but no spark, checked to make sure the mag was not fireing, it's not , so was in the process of removing the points when I had to do a chore for the wife. ( honey doo's) have read somewhere that the points corrode and did not get them sanded off, so was going to take them out and do it right. oh well that's another day. BTW I called this a red headed old gal, someone has painted it, looks like with a brush. later, JohnnyLast edited by papa65; 12-09-2007 at 07:58 PM.the gorilla that made it hold Ranger 8 15 yrs old SP150 mig 25 yrs old several Victor sets Snap On 130 mig 25 yrs old Lincoln 225 buzz box SA200 F163 78 mdl they all work just added a Idealarc 250/250

Reply:I have had a chance to mess with the welder (SA200) in trying to get it running , it had no spark, Pulled the mag off, ( after lining up the roter) and was going to clean and set the points when I saw that the fiber gear had a coulple of teeth gone, the eng and the mag are not locked up, and it has good compression. where would be the best place to get some mag parts? I've checked several places and all they can supply are points and cond and cap and rotor any help would be appreciated, I found the place WELDMART, they had everything I needed, and were very helpful stuff will be shipped today , can teach a old dog new tricks ( sometimes )Last edited by papa65; 12-13-2007 at 04:20 PM.the gorilla that made it hold Ranger 8 15 yrs old SP150 mig 25 yrs old several Victor sets Snap On 130 mig 25 yrs old Lincoln 225 buzz box SA200 F163 78 mdl they all work just added a Idealarc 250/250

Reply:Just got around to getting the welder going, new points, cond, roter and the mag fires real good. has a little noise in the bottom end, not real bad but I'm going to put a oil pressure gauge on it to see what the pressure is. it has the electric fast idle, which after cleaning the shaft and a little lube works fine. warmed it up and changed the oil and filter put alittle lucas oil supplement in and the bottom end sounds a lot better. Boy does this thing weld good. if anyone knows where to get the cover for the end of the genarator, I'M NEEDING ONE. also could use a mag side door, although it seem nobody uses one. I'm taking it off the truck it came on and putting it on my old welding truck I will get some pict's for denrep thanks guy's for the help johnnythe gorilla that made it hold Ranger 8 15 yrs old SP150 mig 25 yrs old several Victor sets Snap On 130 mig 25 yrs old Lincoln 225 buzz box SA200 F163 78 mdl they all work just added a Idealarc 250/250
Reply:Glad to hear it! You probably don't feel like dealing with it right now, but rolling in a set of bearings might save that baby!
