Not sure what happened but I was welding away and all of a sudden POOFFFF!Flames came out of the motor.. Lots of smoke and then nothing.I guess I finally blew it up...Crap.Now I have to see if I can get another one......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Probably lost the ground path back to the welding machine and the welding current tried to go to ground back thru the motor and the primary wiring feeding it. Does yours have a flat braided copper strap held against the spindle with a spring?   If so did it get loose?

Reply:Might still be salvageable. If it's just a simple AC motor, you might be able to get it rewound for a lot less than it might cost to replace it. Would depend if you have a place around that still rewinds motors..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Easiest way to dispose of it is to put it in the mail to me. I am sure to find a way to  repower it.
Reply:I have 2 angle grinders that have metal shavings inside them causing them to only work in one position.  I am going to take them apart, clean them up, and put them back together.  Hoping this will fix the issue.  Considering that the motor isn't totally fried, you may be able to do this with your positioner.GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
