I recently started looking for a CO2 tank and a mig welder and ran into a 5' CO2 tank on craigslist. The gent claims he use it to fill his paint ball guns and he also said its 1/2-3/4 full.I don't know much about this stuff, but from research I can see the numbers are important for recertification and what not, and maybe they could tell me the tank size and if it's a good deal: he wants $100 for it.So one side of the tank says "ARM EX(with an upside-down "v" in the x)T (with a small nubbin' coming down parallel to the vertical part of the T)" The other side says: "1CC 3A2015 10" and a little ways away it says "VC33"Anyone have any translations for any of this? I tried looking it up, but it wasn't matching any of the translations I've foundSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:The tanks I have seen for paint ball filling are liquid delivery tanks, which means they have a tube from the valve on top to the bottom of the tank so they can fill the paint ball cylinders with liquid. This is backwards for what you want for welding you need vapor delivery tanks. I think I would pass on this tank.
Reply:Darn, there aren't any other ones in my area. Can a liquid delivery CO2 tank be converted to gas?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:A tank of 75 / 25 will produce a cleaner almost spatter free weld area. Some say a dedicated CO 2 regulator should be used. Most machines provide a argon / CO2 mix regulator.

Reply:Tanks from home brewers work? There were a few small ones for sale here, how long does a 20lb tank usually last? I'll Probably be running mig on 115v plug, so I might need the extra heat from straight CO2, or would you still recommend a mix?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Reply:Don't buy any large tank without making sure your local welding supply will exchange it. I think anything taller than 36" or larger than 80 cf would be considered a leased tank by the welding gas "Nazi's" ...A**G** and Nex***.

Reply:If there is some one close to you, they may know of someone who has stuff for sale, but not advertized, or they may remember your post when browsing thru CL and see something you are looking for. I've passed on plenty of deals to members here who were looking for something. In several cases others posted the link, but I knew a member near that location was looking for a similar machine, so I made sure to PM them the link. Occasionally you'll find members who will simply do a CL search using Searchtempest and your approximate zipcode and see if you might have missed something..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Ah right on! That would be awesome. I check CL about twice a day for welding stuff, but haven't had much luck recently, so I got pretty excited when I saw this huge tank but now that I think about it I don't want to cart around a giant heavy tank with a little 110v welderSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Reply:That looks like the size I need, thank you. I'm searching for one now, one guy was selling an aluminum one for $125! I found another in CO for $60 but not aluminumSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:Careful buying those 20# tanks off Craig's List. People get hold of a coke- or pepsi- owned bottle and sell them for dirt cheap, but the LWS won't fill them. Look for "COCA COLA" or "PEPSI" imprinted into the cylinder.Edit: ...and of course, seeing just now that Broccoli already posted that warning.Last edited by asdf; 08-28-2015 at 03:58 PM.

When you exchange it you can get either. And my Airgas supplier will actually swap gases for me. Reply:Soutthpaw - Jodi didn't really change it much, 90 for co2 and 95 for 75/25.At the lower amps/volts on a 120v machines, co2 doesn't really spatter much compared to getting in the upper ranges on a 240v machine. You can get some serious spatter issues at higher voltages. In my opinion of course - but that's been my experience so far.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.Originally Posted by combatmanAh right on! Reply:Originally Posted by soutthpawhe was 5 for co2. 95 for mix. Haven't watched it in a while. I just got those CO2 tanks so haven't tried welding with straight CO2 yet. (Main reason I got them was for my mixer setup) Going to try it with my ready welder and my suitcase though.
