Well I finally got all my ducks in a row to get the 'new' Dialarc 250HF fired up yesterday. We upgraded the service in the house to 200 amp service with a new panel and box etc. then ran 2/0 wire on a dedicated 100 amp breaker out to the garage in a new box and panel. Threw in a 100 amp dedicated breaker just for the machine and got 15' of 2/4 SOOW cable and hard wired it in. The electrical supply didn't have any 2/3 SOOW cable so I just had to leave the 4th wire unhooked. Anyway, got her wired up and checked the voltage and she's running a smooth 249v across each leg and when I strike an arc with the machine cranked up to 190 amps she's only pulling 60 amps then leveling out to 56 amps (this is with SMAW). Then I went to the welding supply and got a bottle, some filler, coolant, stainless wire brush, a bunch of tungsten and some new tig gloves. Came home, filled the cooler and ford her up. A/C runs great and so does DC. Ran a couple beads on some old scrap stainless and aluminum. Anyways just thought I'd share. I'm tickled to death! Thanks again to all that helped and thanks to WILLIE B for selling me an awesome setup!1973 Lincoln SA 200, Already replaced shunt coils, Idle board (SOLD)1984 Miller Dialarc 250HF, Miller water cooler, 250 AMP water cooled torch, you know the worx.
Reply:I learned to weld aluminium with one of those at trade school, it was a beast of a machine, well done mate.
Reply:Thanks bud. Yeah I'm happy with my purchase for sure. Just gotta build a nice table and start cranking stuff out.1973 Lincoln SA 200, Already replaced shunt coils, Idle board (SOLD)1984 Miller Dialarc 250HF, Miller water cooler, 250 AMP water cooled torch, you know the worx.

Reply:That is a good machine you have there. I used one at the first "Real" welding job, and it did not miss a beat on alum. Good show!Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li  ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.

Reply:I'm delighted to see it working. Familiar pictures. Like deja vu all over again. The power upgrade sounds like big time, that'll work! Go build a battleship.
Reply:Yes she's working wonderfully. I got ahold of some Tigtectic 680 filler rod and was playing around with it. Man that stuff welds NICE. I need a lot more practice but I have to say, after not being behind the hood while TIG welding for over 8 years I'm not doing too badly with it lol. I also added/upgraded to my collection. LOL. 1973 Lincoln SA 200, Already replaced shunt coils, Idle board (SOLD)1984 Miller Dialarc 250HF, Miller water cooler, 250 AMP water cooled torch, you know the worx.
