Reply:They get bent by my steel supplier. How you guys think you gonna bend 48"of 1/2" ar in the field???
Reply:Bend it with an excavator. Seen it done many time though never on purpose or with any degree of accuracy. GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:On a lower section I have used the machine to add little radius.Have also used the teeth to take some out.But in upper area gonna be tuff after you got it tacked in.Waste alot of time messing around. Now if you have another machine and operator that's a different story. You can be right there to tack up,no running back and forth Bs.

Reply:Not starting a argument sorry if it came off that way.All I do is weld these things I have very little hrs running them. You are correct about needing to be precise. After being bent in a press brake I still spend a lot of time fitting up.It gets frustrating at times, maybe I,m just to fussy about it.But my name is on it so I want it to look right.
Reply:You came across a little strong but I have thick skin. Not much gets to me.I've seen someone with your desire to have it as perfect as possible. It didn't look fun at all. I'll stick to building shelves, carts, and other BS in my garage and leave the important stuff to those of you who have that level of skill.I ran a 330 with a 5 yard bucket digging a 20,000 cu yd retention pond. The bucket wasn't right and it sure made it more difficult. My hat is off to you for not just slapping it together and calling it good.GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference. |
