Found a TWECO 141i for $400 is this a good deal? I'm looking for a machine to get my son started in welding and I like the fact that it has the 3 process all included. I'm thinking about building a go-kart or something. I have access to a Bobcat 225g + at my dad's house but it's to far to start a project at his place.
Reply:If it's in good shape, comes with all the accessories, and hopefully some extra consumables or wire, it's not a horrible deal. You can buy it new with a warrenty for $600Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Reply:Thanks guys I'll let you know if I get it.
Reply:Its a nice machine. But I seriously regret not getting the 211i which is dual voltage...120volt/240volt.  As far as its performance for a 110volt multiprocess machine...I do think it is great. Its just that having more balls goes a long way when welding.   I've thought about selling mine...but just as this thread demonstrates, it would be hard to get 400.00 bucks. I do think 400 is a good deal for what you are getting. And for a first machine for your son, it would be perfect. But if you also plan on using it....You may want to think about a 211i.  As far as TWECO's quality. I would say top notch. My 141i has a very nice Fushion mig gun....good quality Victor Regulator...And feeds perfectly. I've used the Tig, and it's OK...But I find I need a foot control for that. The stick welder performs perfectly up to about 95 amps.
Reply:The regulator sucks ***. I had 2 that didn't last longer than 10 minutes The fusion gun and consumables are crap tooTorchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer

Reply:Just curious as to why the complaints about the Fusion velocity tip design. I kind of like it. Its easier IMO and although I haven't put a lot of wire through my gun yet....It has performed fine. I've read other reviews from users who have commented that velocity tips  tend to last a lot longer than the standard design.
Reply:FWIW...what they are saying all makes sense in my opinion. Like I said...I kind of like the new velocity tip.
Reply:I really like the tweco fusion gun on my 211i.Welds great.Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Trump/Carson 2016-2024
Reply:The gun is fine, just the diffuser, tip, and nozzle sucks. It uses the Tweco 42 series liner, so no issues there.. About $20.00 in parts, and it works as well as any gun out.. It sucks because it's like the gas coverage is all messed up. Arc is funny too. Had two, and both the 10 ft, and 12 ft worked like crap.. Put the older style diffuser , #11 tip, and nozzle in it,and problem solved. I kept the 12 ft 220 gun for .023 wire, using the correct liner.. Just put a magnum 200 15ft gun on to really match the quality of the machine.. Yes, I use flow-meters too. Pretty much all the accessories on the Tweco machine are sup-standard or to short of reach (Ground lead) Upgrade, and it's a very nice package to own, and use.. Maybe in the bigger style guns it works better, but not in the smaller units.. (IMO) still get to throw the whole neck away if the built-in setup gets damaged. Lot of hype if you ask me.. Friend at Airgas says lots of problems with them too.. He is the main PNW rep for all the stores, so he hears about it too..Rarely hears anything positive about them.. I sure would not recommend them to anyone..    I've owned the 141i, and certainly is good with 120 volt power input, and output.. Just not on the same planet as a 211i running on 120 volt input.. Most amazing 120 volt mig  I have ever used.. Burns in hot as heck!!! Reply:Thanks for all the input. The tips seem a bit LARGE, don't you think?  But hey, I'm still learning, so maybe the size of the tips won't come into play as I try to weld inside corners of 1 inch angle iron.Learning to weld, one arc at a time.
Reply:Well I went ahead and bought the 141i. It works great IMO, for what I want to do in the garage its the ticket. I took it to dads house to help weld up some 3/4 x 3/4 16gauge tubing and it worked flawlessly. I thought about getting a dual input machine but I don't have a 220v outlet in the garage and didn't want to mess with it at the time. If I need more power (not seeing it at the moment) I'll probably get multi process like the Millet XT series or something, but for now I'm good. Thanks all for the advice.
