I have this Craftsman air compressor that I am making some modifications to, and for the life of me I cannot figure out what threads Craftsman used on their pressure fittings.I'm going to replace the line from the compressor to the tank with some kind of charge cooler. Here's the line in question:#33 is the line with fittings #34 and #31Okay, starting with #34 here's what I haveIt is a male, o-ring sealing fitting. The o-ring is seated into a groove in the tube/pipe/line.557" outer diameter25.2 - 26.4 TPI (possible 1.0 metric thread pitch?)
Reply:Sorry guys, I can't edit my thread to fix the image size. May the powers that be refer to my previous thread on fixing this issue in a manner of seconds.Regardless:
Reply:I can't tell you the exact thread size, but most of those types of machines use standard plumbing compression fittings to attach the copper tube. Mine had a brass adapter that went from 1/2" npt to 1/2" compression fitting on both the pump and tank. I used a standard 1/2" compression nut and furel (sp?) to replace a damaged copper line with no issues..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:I don't think I would bother with a cooler. To get big enough to do much, your semi portable compressor will no longer be semi portable. Is that the 33 gallon model? Is it new or fairly well used? When I rebuilt mine, the cycle time went from like 5 minutes down to about a min. Compressor and motor ran cooler as a result. The rebuild kit was cheap too at about $50.My name's not Jim....

Reply:you could mount a small homemade dryer (catch tank) on the side of it to help out.. couple quick connects and a petcock for a water drain and you would be good to go.. contemplating on adding one on my compressor outside, i have a good dryer inside the shop but another one outside wouldnt hurt...seems like what you are referring to would be a ferrule and compression nut.. any plumbing place or lowes should be able to fix you up anyways..Last edited by brucer; 06-15-2011 at 05:30 PM.tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/ |
