Basic Wiring Question???? Help Plz

Soo I just got my welder in yeterday and had a quick question. Its has 3 wires comin out of the power cable in the back, black, white and green.Im pretty sure the B&W are live and the green is ground, but I want to be sure I have my wires set up correctly before i plug it in.I have mine set up B in the left, G in the top, and W in the right...is this correct?
Reply:that looks like  a  220  plug  ,   if ur useing   220v    then yes u have it correct  ,  the white and black are both  hot   so they can be  switched  .>Innovations are what i leave behind for History

Reply:Well, you need to know what the welder is supposed to run on. If it says 120, the white is NEUTRAL. If it says 240 (or 220), you need 2 hots. I don't know why you would have a black and white for 240, cause you should have a black and red. Unless you put a different cord on itBlack is hot (opposite pole from red)Red is hot (opposite pole from black)Green or bare is groundWhite is neutral, unless used in a special application.
