I'm buying a Lincoln 180HD. My 220V service in the garage is a 30 amp circuit breaker, with #10 wire. Is this sufficient to run this welder? Thanks
Reply:30A should be enough to run the machine fine. The wire gauge at that amp load, I'll leave to the experts here. Not saying it's right or wrong. Just my experience.I've been running my 220v 180 amp Miller off a 20A breaker for 3 years and only popped it once. Running at full power welding some 3/8" plate. The 20A breaker could only take about 1 minute of that before it would trip.
Reply:Yes, you are fine. Many of us, including us electricians, have the same set-up with 180A machines. In the future, please put the question itself in the subject line. We have thousands of "newbie with question" threads. Thanks.
Reply:Thank you gentlemen. I appreciate the prompt response. |
