Got another score at Napa (LWS)

Went into Napa today to exchange my argon bottle. The owner of the store met me back there when I set my bottle down. She said "you see all those bottles in the back that got dust on them?" I replied yes, she said they're for sale, and most are large bottles, the ones airgas wont let me own.       So we looked around and found what I believe is. A 330 helium and a 300? Maybe not sure of the size but the other bottle is 75/25 Mig gas. she told me 200 for the helium and 150 for the 75/25. I told her 300 and you can watch me carry them out, and thats what we agreed on. (She thinks im cute). But the reason shes selling the old bottles is due nasty divorce, restraining orders, this and that, shes selling the store and going to pocket as much as she can before it goes. Its really sad cause that was a family run store until the divorce. Made our little farming community a happy place. Now everyone has to make the 30 mile hike to Gainesville  or ocala for most of their needs. Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk

Reply:If you don't really need to loose the He, I'd hang on to it. At worst maybe you can find someone who will buy it from you. I bet if you posted a note at one of the dive shops like Ginnie springs, Cave Excursions, Dive Outpost etc ( been quite a while since I did any deep diving down that way) I bet you'll get someone who is interested in the helium. You might even run a CL add offering it. Anyone who does deep dives or is into GUE usually uses Helium. It's been quite a while since I used He for diving. Costs vary but it wouldn't surprise me if they aren't getting almost $1 per cubic foot if not more retail. If you could get  1/2 retail you'd probably pay for the cylinder you just bought.Tough thing is that it won't be easy to get all the helium out of your cylinder without the right gear. Most serious divers that use He often have their own transfill whips and many of the rebreather guys have their own haskel, so they'd be easy to deal with. The ones who don't, you'd need to locate someone with a whip or haskel that would be willing to let you use it.They get the helium at a discount, you get to keep the cylinder..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:No I didn't mean like that. I mean when I go to exchange the 300 helium bottle. Instead of getting helium I was going to exchange it for argon. Cause to airgas a 300 shielding gas bottleis a 300, doesn't matter what the contents are. And I asked the man at airgas what the other bottle was and he said it was a 250. So im thinking exchanging it for 2 125 bottles for the welding rig. Sent from my C811 4G using Tapatalk
