This is a welder that came from my great grandpa. I am 28 and my dad was born in 1945 so I am guessing it is from the 40s. Does anyone know anything about it?
Reply:Thats a Hammets Arc Welder !! Read the tag , I have one welds great . Might have to find a set of pin connectors or go in the case and hard wire it . Welds E-7018 great. John PS seen others Fla Flywheelers has one at their show grounds.
Reply:I had read the name but when it tried to get some info by searching the internet I turned up empty handed. I wondered how old it really was and if they were popular. Also how it welded. I have a licoln weld pack 100 for welding thin stuff so I got this out to try some thick stock welding. I do hove the leads for it But I am getting new wire. The insulation was falling off. It is good to know that there are some out there still welding. thanks for the response.
