Reply:All of them? The first 2 i did horizontal, mainly because i wanted the practice, i could have turned the piece, i feel like it looks cold but as i was doing it the puddle was drooping, im at a loss, wouldnt hotter make it droop more?http://fucdatbirth.blogspot.com/
Reply:I'm just a backyarder so take it with a grain of salt, but with out of position welds like the first two, I'd either try running hotter and faster with a slight upwards angle (5-10 degrees) or find another rod. Some rods I've used just aren't suited to out of position because of the slow freeze and sagging.
Reply:You need to clean the joint better, especially for 7018. Shiny steel is what you want.Lincoln Power Mig 216Lincoln AC/DC-225/125Miller 625 X-Treme PlasmaMiller 211 Forney 95FI-A 301HF 91110Victor Journeyman O/PMilwaukee DaytonMakita Baileigh NRA Life Member
Reply:Yes they all look cold especially the first two. You are welding really thick material. Try 1/8" rods 130-150 amps and speed up. Literally push the rod in the puddle. What kind of welder are you using ? |
