Hi Guys, newbie here. Can't seem to find a comparison for these. To me it looks like the SP 180t might just be the new version of the SP175T ? They seem to be almost the same price so which one is different ? I know the SP175 is know for it's infinite control. I mainly do restoration work but would like a low cost Mig that "could" weld aluminium once in awhile. ON average I'm working with 11ga steel alot.Thanks.
Reply:The 180 come ready for the sg100 spool gun. It is very easy to set up for occasional use. The 175 would require a control box for spool gun hook up or run it through the mig gun.I would say the 180 is the way to go and get the spool gun for an easy change over for aluminum.
Reply:Lincoln's "T" machines are tapped machines, ie the voltage adjustment is a choice of several finite numbers/letters/values (A, B, C, D, etc).Lincoln's "C" machines have the voltage adjustment anywhere from min to max. And you can adjust that voltage while welding. The 'new' machines (the 140 and the 180, T and C on both) are all made for plug-n-play with the SG100 spoolgun. The 'older' 175 or other machines, can not use the new SG100. The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...
Reply:Thanks for the input. It seemed to me the 180 would be the way to go but 175s are pulling the same price if not more than 180s so I thought maybe I was missing something. Gonna check out the 180. Looks like what I need. I have a Solar 2120 but I can't get parts for it and it needs a circutboard. It never worked that great anyway.
