Need to change the oil in my welder generator. It is a Lincoln 150 with a Kohler motor. What oil weight should I use? Obtained a manual for the welder, but nothing on the motor. gearSouthbend 13" latheBuffalo 18Warner Swasey #3 Turret latheMiller 180Miller Dialarc Miller Diversion 165

Reply:What ever you get make sure it's synthetic, doesn't say to use 5-50 synthetic, but we've had really good results using it.
Reply:Told to use 30 wt SAE. Can you go from normal motor oil to synthetic without any issues.Southbend 13" latheBuffalo 18Warner Swasey #3 Turret latheMiller 180Miller Dialarc Miller Diversion 165
Reply:Your location isn't posted. Do we assume you aren't in a freezing climate or do you change the oil seasonally?

Reply:While thats true in some cases, by the time your warranty expires, your engine will be so full of crude from using moisture ridden Dinosaur oil that it won't be much good.
Reply:Regarding where I live in Kansas City Mo. Warranty issue. long over with, machine is about 8 years old. I'm told the machine was used more as a generator than a welder. Does this information change anything regarding the 30 wt oil.Southbend 13" latheBuffalo 18Warner Swasey #3 Turret latheMiller 180Miller Dialarc Miller Diversion 165

Reply:The welding leads and stinger are in just about perfect shape. I know that does not mean much because they can be replaced. But, the machine is in about 95 percent condition. Starts up very quickly and runs and welds smooth. Can the machine be quited down some with a different muffler or will this affect the performance.Southbend 13" latheBuffalo 18Warner Swasey #3 Turret latheMiller 180Miller Dialarc Miller Diversion 165
