Hey everyone, I'm making some T-stakes for copper forming. The horizontal part is 3/4" x 3/4" 304 stainless and the vertical (shank) is 7/8" x 7/8" mild steel. I've ordered some Excaliber 309 rods, I believe, which is what I intend to use... but I have a bunch of Forney Stainless 312-16 rods on hand. I was wondering if these rods, which I love, can also be used to join 304 to mild steel.ToolSteel
Reply:My guess would be that 312-16 would work just fine for what you're doing.
Reply:Thank you, sir.
Reply:316 can be used. I think 309 is recommended but whatever. I've done GTAW on carbon to SS with 316 and passed RT before.Stainless stick though... bless your heart. |
