I have a Lincon Weld Pac 100 about 4 yrs old and this it has stopped feeding wire on me 3 times. I was welding with flux core on galv pipe temp setting on 2 and wire was feeding excellant then just stopped. Makes all the clicking noise and you think here comes the wire but NOT! this as I said is the third time the first two times it went to the local Lincon repair shop and the tech said he put in the wire and it worked fine. About a week had passed before he tested it, and I had kicked it and hauled it in my truck for several daws before I got it to them. this time I went and bought a Hobart Mig 140, and have not tested the lincon because I am fed up with it. When feeding wire it was a great little machine, but being unpredictable just dreves me nuts! Reply:Gun trigger wires are shorting to the copper conduit for it to kick like that, no big deal!Jeff

Reply:Well I took your advice and started with the trigger, looked like I'd have to break it to take it apart????? Well I got to fooling around with it again and found the problem!Hard to belive I bought a new welder because of this but I did? Kinda embarassing but others may learn from my mistake / lack of knowledge. here is what the problem was. Notice the power selector knob in the first photo, welder feed motor was not working. It is just below the "C"http://Just messing around with the knob getting mad and fixing to give up again, I felt a slight bump when I went to turn the knob and with the trigger pressed wire began to flow.http://All four settings were just a little off and going down I would hit the low spot on each and no wire. But comming up I hit the sweet spot most of the time. I guess when I took it into the shop bouncing and throwing it around it hit the knob and fed wire. I really thought the guy was messing with me after the second time, but he was'nt. So thank you Jeff for giving me some place to start because I already tried to give the machine away, man I'm glad they did'nt want to fool with it. Now I HAVE THIS SET-UP Just had to build something after that find. Reply:I have the Lincoln SP-180 and I have that problem also, sometimes when I change settings  the wire fails to feed. A slight change in dial position and the problem is solved.
Reply:triptester: I had given up on my little Lincon I,m glad to have it working again now I can save on Gas and set up time. I have them set up to use as needed now urban Cammo and all.
