Reply:Look for your local Blacksmith Chapter. They are all over. Also check into Abana which is for Blacksmith's as well. Here in California they have CBA which is California Blacksmith Association. Great bunch of people. There is a lot on You tube for blacksmithing as well. But getting your hands dirty is the best way and finding a club will help you do that. Let me know if I can help you any more I will be glad to. Oh I also had took a month class with a Master Blacksmith Frank Turley. If you get a chance to go to his school it will get you going in a hurry and learn a lot. He is in New Mexico. Good Luck and let your grandfather's Anvil ring again.GalenMiller TrailBlazer 302 EFIThermal Dynamics 252i w/WeldCraft WP 9F tig torch and foot controlThermal Dynamics Pak 52Millermatic 250 w/Spoolmate 30aLincoln SA-200 gas driven welder from grandfatherBlacksmith shop
Reply:Nice work. Liked your forge. Built mine several years ago, similar to a whisper mama. What it reminded me of is fire bricks are expensive up here. Guess only the rich don't mix adobe/cow dooky to make a stove. I have a 12' lathe bed I'm going to straighten this summer. Need to rob a bank to get enough money for the fire bricks. I'd just steal the bricks place of robbin the bank but I'm gonna have to sit down and rest a time or two for I get all them bricks loaded.Arcon Workhorse 300MSPowcon 400SMTPowcon SM400 x 2Powcon SM3001968 SA200 Redface1978 SA250 DieselMiller Super 32P FeederPre 1927 American 14" High Duty LatheK&T Milwaukee 2H Horizontal MillBryan

Reply:I like the forge Galen. I blown natural gas forge is eventually on my "to do" list if I ever get my garage cleaned out enough to make it a useable shop. I'm not sure if I'll continue to go with fire brick or if I'll go with an insulating blanket type forge though. My fire brick forge takes quite a bit of heat to get it up to temp.I love the rose as well. One of these days I'll get around to playing with one. Right now though I can't even get to my forge with all the snow we've had this winter. I'd hoped to get to play some if the weather was nice while work was slow, but the frigid temps combined with the perpetual snow hasn't allowed that to work this winter..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Thanx DSW. I have both in my gas forge. I lined the whole inside of the forge with K Wool boiler insulation. Then put the fire bricks on the bottom. It was my grand father's and mine own design. It gets up to around 1800 degree's. Great for making my rose's and small stuff. When Im working on bigger stuff I use the coal forge as the heat is better. Also Thanx for posting up some of the Blacksmithing info. The Anvils ring was one of my first books and very helpful. All great info.GalenMiller TrailBlazer 302 EFIThermal Dynamics 252i w/WeldCraft WP 9F tig torch and foot controlThermal Dynamics Pak 52Millermatic 250 w/Spoolmate 30aLincoln SA-200 gas driven welder from grandfatherBlacksmith shop
Reply:Here is a couple more projects I finished this last few days. Reply:That's a nice cart. Been frustrated lately wondering how long it take before a person can make such nice designs, clean welds, and squared up corners. My cart, though functional, looks like two drunk guys got together and used a handful of constipated snails to make the welds. Hadn't used 6013 in a long time and it kicked my butt. Decided I didn't care and was going to make the most dangerous welding cart in history and I achieved my goal. How much for the ravioli cutter? Very pretty.
Reply:The ravioli cutter sold for $100..And for the time it took me to get where I am today is a whole lot. I started taking college course when I was a sophomore in high school and been welding and fabricating ever since.GalenMiller TrailBlazer 302 EFIThermal Dynamics 252i w/WeldCraft WP 9F tig torch and foot controlThermal Dynamics Pak 52Millermatic 250 w/Spoolmate 30aLincoln SA-200 gas driven welder from grandfatherBlacksmith shop
Reply:Thanx for kind words. Im enjoying the site and all of its info and others various projects and talent. The Blacksmithing is a great past time that I mix in with my fabricating. Reply:I thought with goat carts, the goat was supposed to pull the child, not the other way around. Looks good. I haven't seen anything like that around here with 4-H other than the lamb / sheep club..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Ya they actually do pull the kids with another cart. The Goats are like dogs the kids have them do all sorts of things for exercise. The one I made will be used for Goats and Sheep.. My wifes 4-H group only used it for Goats as thats all we had around us.It was Funny last year I found an old Tread mill and got it to work and the wife used it to get the goats on it for exercise. We have actually got 3 goats on it at one time. I will see if she still has the video on it. It was hilarious seeing those Goats running on it.GalenMiller TrailBlazer 302 EFIThermal Dynamics 252i w/WeldCraft WP 9F tig torch and foot controlThermal Dynamics Pak 52Millermatic 250 w/Spoolmate 30aLincoln SA-200 gas driven welder from grandfatherBlacksmith shopYou have incredible welding, cutting and blacksmithing skills!
