Ive spent the past half hour roaming around the site, and still cannot understand what exactly i can get out of it. I printed out a membership card and that is it .... is there videos?wheres my online subscription?i get discounts?help me out please
Reply:Why would you join if you didn't mean too... Never the less, they'll be sending you some 'chit', US mail. Stay for a while & see if it works for you.Matt
Reply:One of the discounts is on their printed material, which is significant if your buying. Otherwise, I believe you'll get a monthly magazine "welding journal" or something to that effect. There may be a few others I can't remember.
Reply:If your going to college/school next fall, pay attention to emails starting around late December early January. Scholarships from the AWS usually start around that time. I would have to guess as a society they give 150K+ worth of money away. It's simple, write two paragraphs about who you are and where you are going and submit it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:Your card should have your member # on it. You can log into the site and find all kinds of free stuff including heavily discounted publications. Your district will also send email or even snail mail notices for chapter gatherings so that you can network with other students, but veterans of the industry and even employers. The people you will meet are the most talented bunch of knuckleheads ever. My chapter years ago included Rocketdyne engineers and they were a hoot. I remember going to them with my mom and we learned about MIC (microbial induced corrosion on space vehicles). Fascinating, but my mom was perplexed and bought a round of beers for all of them. The forum is a bit stuffy but heck, the info there is priceless.I am a member and purchase my Standards like AWS D1.1 structural steel, or D17.1 aerospace. I also purchase my SWPS (standard weld procedure specifications) instead of developing them myself which is REALLY expensive.Believe me, milk it for all it is worth. I would be lost without my AWS membership. Good Luck.Last edited by shovelon; 10-15-2015 at 09:55 AM.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.

Reply:I also get discounted meals at AWS meetings, which are a good thing. Do the business card drop as often as you can.Currently working as a Paralegal, but still interested in hobby welding.Miller Bobcat 225ntOne- Character Fractions: ¼ ½ ¾ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞ |
