Hello again I just went to install new armature brushes (T2687) in my 79 sa 200 when I realized the last owner had installed T344 ,300 amp brushes in all 8 brush holders I havent had to work this machine for a living for I have been a supervisor in a rail shop for 12 years. mMy question is should I run half 200 amp and half 300amp or should I continue with all 8 brushes 300 amp?. I am having a problem at 3oclock with 3/16 70+.. Ive heard of welders using half of a set of 300 amp but never a whole set of 8 in a sa 200. but thats what mine has in it. any help would be appreciated thanks!!!
Reply:Just picks up and extra com linlk on the comutator for softer starts and a bit of top end loss. so yes either all 300 amp brushes or all 200 amp brushes not half and half
Reply:Your standard American pipeliner solution is to run the 300 amp brushes only on the negative side, that's probably what you've heard, right? All 300 brushes isn't what the guys do.I'm not 100% convinced about this bit of SA-200 voodoo, but I have to say the slickest 200 I've ever run was set up that way and it ran completely effortlessly thru the 2-4 o'clock position. I tried to buy that machine.....but it wasn't for sale : ) I call him up about every month trying to buy it, maybe someday.I'll probably do this to my old 200. Unless my Vantage keeps making me happy, happy, happy, but I'll still probably do it.JTMcC.Last edited by JTMcC; 01-26-2009 at 04:18 PM.
