tilting disc sander

Has anyone seen a disk sander where the disc tilts instead of the table? I'm thinking out getting a 20" disc sander. Currently I have a bench top 12" disc sander, and when I grind miter cuts on long pieces, I have to tip the whole thing up on end, so the table is closer to horizontal.Also I'd like a larger table, to help stabilize long pieces. Is such a thing available, or do I need to make it?Ian TannerKawasaki KX450 and many other fine tools
Reply:Never heard of such a thing as a simple purpose commercial unit commonly available. Might always be a custom whatever if you want to pay enough.I got a floor model free standing type disc sander as its own unit that sometimes I tilt with blocks under the legs for a purpose but that is create a V effect in the disc area to grind round things just so.Sounds like a jury rig design in your future.

Reply:hIHave you though of buying an old table saw and converting it to do angles.I'm sure you can find then on craige's list cheap and with a little work have what you want.have funTom
