I reccently bought a 175hd weld pak and proceeded to feed wire into it today and upon depressing the trigger to continue to feed the wire damn thing smoked like crazy. It did feed the wire but I didnt like the smoke so I shut it off and swore like mad. I am next to positive that I did everything right except the fact that I purchased it off of EBAY (I know stupid me). Is there any type of advice you guys can give as to where I should go from here? P.S. I did contact lincoln and am waiting to hear back from them hopefully everything will work out! Also the fan was infact working and did a good job blowing smoke out
Reply:Was it sold as new or used? These things are powered by a closed-loop smoke cycle. When the smoke gets out, they don't work anymore!
Reply:Just remember that you have 45 days before PayPal won't help anymore if there are issues between you and seller.
Reply:It was brand new, or at least should have been! I purchased it on 02/26 and recieved it on friday so as far as all that goes I should be in the good. I am just debating on going through lincoln and getting it fixed or sending it back. As far as the smoke, I am pretty sure it was not supposed to do what it did, however no trip/saftey switch whent off. Can you elaborate on the closed loop.
Reply:Closed-loop smoke cycle was a joke. Didn't mean to confuse you, sorry.I'm sure you'll get taken care of. Most of the sellers are legitimate retailers and Lincoln has a good warranty. Keep us posted!
Reply:While I don't think it would smoke the machine, was it by any chance set to 208V input and fed with 240V?Was it this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Lincoln-Electric...3A1|240%3A1318
