Recently, I bought a Pro MIG 140 from Lowes for a job that I thought I might need to use it on. Turned out I was able to use my SA-250 and burn sticks instead, So the Pro MIG just sat in the truck for that job. I just got to setting it up and running some beads in the garage, and all I have to say is WOW! I am really surprised with the amount of power the little thing has. It burns 1/4" great with the flux core wire. I haven't gotten a chance to buy any C25 yet but I am really looking forward to it. Needless to say my old SIP handymate will be going to scrap yard(first machine I ever bought, got it used for $50). To tell the truth I didn't expect so much from the 120V machines after using the handymate. Anyhow, I'll post some pics up when I get done playing around with it this evening.
Reply:Here are some pictures of horizontal fillet welds that I did with the pro mig:I know I need to clean off the mill scale, but I was just playing around with the machine to see what it could do, so... I think I'll try some verticals next.
Reply:Congratulations. What wire are you burning. I just switched back to the lincoln innershield .045 NR211-mp. I was really suprised at how well it welds and how minimally it spatters.
Reply:I'm using the innershield 211-mp wire, .035. It burns pretty nice.
Reply:Delwelds - is the SIP really that bad? I've never wanted to spend any money on a 120v welder, but every now and then it would be really handy for sheet metal work. I'd possibly park my truck next to your dumpster when you do decide to toss it.... Where in Atlanta are you? I'm up 85 near the Mall of Georgia.
Reply:I'm in East Point. I wouldn't mind if you decided to park next to the dumpster when I get rid of it. I'll let you know when that happens! |
