Local farmer dropped this off at 8pm - need it in the field in the morning.Small part, not really sure what it's for - he's cutting/baling hay right now I think.Supposed to be round...and connected...at the bend line it is also cracked.I beveled the break before bending into position.I cut through the crack with a zip wheel, beveled and welded. Before welding, I media blasted all weld areas because it was too hard to grind. It's pretty round nowThe inside weld I tigged from each end (meet in middle) and will grind down in the morning. It was beveled all the way down. Could not weld from the outside.Fillet for one of the ears.Last edited by MinnesotaDave; 08-06-2014 at 12:39 AM.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.

Reply:Thanks guys I'd rather I had a piece of pipe to replace it with, but when time is the issue - bending and welding will have to do Hopefully it's round enough to fit on the machine - hate it when I don't have the matching part to check...Hey Wheelman - it's a 1963 model Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.

Reply:Big 10-4 on the rush job, I've learned to get to them when I get to them unless I know the guy, rushing usually doesn't make the inpatient customer any happier because they don't know how long it should take anyway. Normally you just end up with something your not happy with!Ps. Nice prep work there Dave !Real welders know how to penetrate!(Equipment)Whatever can be used to beat my opponent into submission!

Reply:I wish there was a "salute" or "hat tip" icon. Nicely done!In the second photo it looks like a simple bend would not line up the edges... a trick of the light, or did it take more to join up those edges?

Never a dull moment.Word on rush jobs and quick repairs... chase them out of the shop before you start or they'll begin to think every repair is quick and simple and then the pressure is really on.
