I am looking to buy 4 new engine driven machines. I have always used Miller Air Pacs in the past for good solid welders where I needed air. About 4 years ago I bought 4 Lincoln Air-vantage 500 machines which I really like, but I can't seem to keep the VMAC compressors running in them, (these were the first Air-Vantage machines I had ever owned). Anyway I now need some new machines for a future project and am kinda leaning back towards the Millers, that IR compressor is plumb bulletproof, the machine is a little more simple and the price is right at 25 grand for either one. What are your guys' thoughts? I am not really brand loyal, just like what works and works for a long time. Also, I just smoked and engine in one of my Lincolns last week, and it only has 4700 hrs on it, they DO get abused, but that's not very many hours on an engine. I also really like the stainless body on the Lincolns.6 Miller Big Blue 600 Air Paks2 Miller 400D6 Lincoln LN-25's4 Miller Xtreme 12VS2 Miller Dimension 812 4 Climax BW-3000Z bore welders Hypertherm 65 and 85Bug-O Track BugPair of Welpers
Reply:I have never heard many bad things about the V-mac compressors that Lincoln uses. Most seem pretty damn durable. I say it boils down to whats your favorite engine choice. For me its hands down the air cooled duetz. They are just a super simple unit that never needs much love.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches. |
