Well I am making slow progress on this disc. This is for my personal use and I am in no hurry. Have to pick up the springs for my handles...I plan to get them Monday. Also need to figure out how I want to mount them with my "bling". Comments welcome...thanks for looking. https://www.facebook.com/CapeWelding...type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/CapeWelding...type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/CapeWelding...type=3&theaterECAVE Still learnin'Lincoln AC225Lincoln 135SPHF ChopsawVictor O/ANumerous other items
Reply:Your progress looks excellent!!! I particularly like the lip/rim that you added since it seems like peppers and onions are always ending up on the ground by us and I guess what might be called a side tray where food that cooked faster could be moved off the fire. I've not seen a discada that had that side tray feature before. Way cool. Most of the discadas I've seen are like ours.... no lip and no side tray. --Just for comparison to show you how fantastic yours looks.... here's ours....complete with horseshoe handles our neighbor's kid welded 5 years ago. --MM 211Smith Tru Lite O/A set, Thanks Bob!Lincoln AC-225--But you must not change one thing, one pebble, one grain of sand, until you know what good and evil will follow on that act. Reply:New concept to me. What's it for?

Reply:Funny thing....I had never heard of these until a local chef asked me to make a couple. So if I'm making a couple I might as well make 4 They weigh almost 20lbs each!!! Attached Images
Reply:i've got a half dozen in the works , but projects are on hold for a while right now .  Actually they have been stalled for a bit simply because i havent quite figured out just how i am going to get a good bend on the strap ill use for the lip .  Mine wont have the side tray , just pull the food up on the rim to get cooler temp .  I do love them mexican woks .
Reply:Nice work rotorimp!Don't forget the pics farmdad.Farmdad on the lip...if you used some 1/8" material you may just be able to tack it every couple of inches while you pull it around.  I used 1/8 x 1 1/4 but I have a very crude home made roller to get it close.  Good luck!ECAVE Still learnin'Lincoln AC225Lincoln 135SPHF ChopsawVictor O/ANumerous other items

Reply:I have enough of the disks i am considering welding a few togeather to make a roller to do the bend , I just havent got motivated on the project .  And now due to an injury all projects are on hold ( including far more pressing ones than the discos ) are on hold for a while .

Reply:Hope ya get better soon farmdad. Anyone see a reason that an old satellite dish from dishnetwork  direct tv wouldn't work after cleaning it up. Pretty sure they're steel.93 Bobcat 225GMillerMatic 135HF Tig 91811
Reply:One of the great things with the plow disc or harrow disc or whatever it is, is that it is pretty beefy.  Holds and distributes heat nicely.  I don't know anything about the satellite dishes, but I'm pretty sure they are not as heavy as plow discs.  They sure have the right shape though.
Reply:Scrap yards usually have tons of used discs in farm country.
Reply:I've still got one mounted to my back porch that we don't use anymore, gonna have to give it a try this weekend and will post back with my results 93 Bobcat 225GMillerMatic 135HF Tig 91811
Reply:Check the farm auction post too. You may have to out bid the scrapers.

Reply:My word.... so many beautiful discadas in post #5!!! Love the professional looking handles. --kuzineddie> Looks yummie and pretty with the parsley garnish.... now all you need is some nice hot chili sauce in that fancy Mexican skillet of yours. Reply:yeah, the satellite dish was a no go, way too thin of material even with my millermatic turned all the way down. Think I thinned it out too much using the flapper disc to get the paint off.93 Bobcat 225GMillerMatic 135HF Tig 91811

Reply:Cowboy Wok is another name for them.First time I ever heard of cooking on them was watching Mexican guys bidding on new disks at an Auction, then the wife walks up and picks the ones out of the pile they wanted!
Reply:That turned out great.  I made one similar a few months ago for my nephews wedding.  They are big campers, and I thought a Wok is a good wedding present so why not make one he could take camping.similar shape to yours, and the stand. The burner is salvaged from an old BBQ and the stand is made to fold up.

Reply:Thanks.  Not quite as fancy as yours, but I have heard that it cooks well.  I got the idea from this site, Sorry I can't remember the poster.  But if I remember right, the guy did it for his high school welding class.
Reply:Your cooker looks just great.  I am thinking my handles would look better if they were more "beefy".  This is my first one and some things I would like to change on the next one - some are visible and some aren't.  I really like your folding stand.I remember the thread.  I am not sure if that is the first one I saw or not.  There is also lots of inspiration over on "thesmokering.com"  There is an entire section dedicated to discada.  Check it out.ECAVE Still learnin'Lincoln AC225Lincoln 135SPHF ChopsawVictor O/ANumerous other items
