I'm pretty sure this is mandatory, a n00b welder building his first project; a fancy, schmancy cart.First I want to acknowledge doctorxring and drb007 and many other members of this fine forum for giving me my cart ideas and providing inspiration.I bought this Husky Chest at the Home of the Depot on sale plus they let me use a 10% off Lowe's coupon.  Out the door for less than $160.I also bought some of this stuff from a local yard:I removed the heavy duty casters from the cart and then bored holes to exactly match the ones in my new frame. Mounted the new frame using the original bolts. Sorry, I was so excited about making this I forgot to take more photos.  I used angle and flat steel to make the lower cart frame with space for two bottles.Standing on its new feet for the first time:The Husky chest is only 16" deep, so I got a piece of 16GA stainless to increase the depth by 4" to accommodate my gear and to make the top much sturdier.  Also made some supports for the rear:Supports and the air filter bracket mounted:I mounted the new top using stainless hardware and also made some "safety straps" out of 18GA stainless that secure all three pieces of gear to the top. This will hopefully prevent them from crashing onto the concrete if I trip over the hoses or get the casters caught in a hole while moving the cart around.  The tank is secured using a strap of 16GA stainless, held in place by 3/8" stainless bolts and a wingnut for easy removal and replacement:I still need to make and install hooks for the torch hoses and paint the cart "cradle", it was too cold out for painting.Fits like a glove into my garage workshop:

Reply:Attention to detail. Excellent. Just really excellent.
Reply:Thanks again everyone.David Hillman was correct, I simply connect a compressed air hose to the air filter on the rear of the chest and I'm ready to cut with the plasma.  The bottle is a 125cf 100% AR.Gamble, I was planning to add a hook on either side for the torch hoses/cables, but since one of the drawers is empty I think I will just extend it while I am cutting/welding and use it for the caddie.  Once I'm done just disconnect the hose and work cables and close the drawer.  No cable clutter. I have drip-proof connectors for the water cooler, so leaks should not be an issue if I go this route.  The top drawer is a great place to keep torch consumables, tungstens, and other small stuff. The only thing I might have dome differently thus far is to use a tool chest that has wide enough drawers to store filler rod containers in. Of course it would no longer squeeze into that spot, but it sure would be convenient to be able to keep all of my welding supplies in one place.
Reply:Almost forgot, I have only used the Invertig 221 three times thus far, but no complaints yet.

Reply:Nice work. Did you have a brake to make your bends?Invertec 350 Pro LN-25 (2)Hobart Mega-Arc 350D
Reply:Ironbear: I bought the SS for the new top at the local Metal Supermarket and they had the 90 degree ends bent for me.  For the top rear brackets, a friend who does sheet metal work (mostly HVAC ducts) helped me bend those using his smaller brake.Since then I've acquired a Swag Offroad 20T Finger Brake so I can now DIY.I bought another tool for on top of my cart, a Millermatic 211, so I needed to add an extension to make room for everything. It turned out perfect but then I realized that I forgot to cut a small notch for the stainless retainer straps that I use to keep all of my gear secure on the top of the cart.  So that is why the extension has a bit of a 'lean' to it, I jammed a wedge into the seam to make room for the 16 gauge strap.  Now everything is in place, secure and ready to weld (and cut).  I even got a fancy cover for it on sale at H.F.
