Reply:I'll need to get some 5/32. I have such a hard time stacking my welds. They're too flat akweldshop. I need them to stack up some moreSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:On really hot 6" sch 40 Ive been as low as 110-115ish after a root and hot pass with 1/8 5P with 5/32" 5P to cap with a nice flat top that stands 3/32' above the wall. Looks to me like you're doing a hot whip. Try a steady drag with a slight weave at a lower heat.
Reply:AKweldshop"WHATS WRONG WITH THEM - What more could you want???"Beads contours want to be convex. A flat or concave bead profile can cracking down the center of the weld as a result of Transverse-Shrinkage.Opus
Reply:Lowest point in the cap must be above pipe wall. The bead looks good but may not meet codeSent from my SGH-M919 using TapatalkLong after the price is forgotten, the quality will remain. Both of my Poppy's 1954 Short Hoods -Third generation to weld with it and teaching a fourthSA 2## - Bought and sold more than I can remember or care to list, 8 in the shop right now
Reply:Show a pic of the joint prep. I am having a hard time understanding why you have 3-4 stringers on a pipe weld. If this is a standardish vee groove set up for pipe it shouldnt be that wide. It may be that it is too hot from previous passes, or that you havent built up enough hot pass for the cap to sit on. Go around another time and see what happens.
Reply:I'm just welding on top of the pipe no joint prep or nothing so I can practice just caps. I saw something called rolling the rack and it makes you machine stack more? My machines ocv is at 107. Does anyone know how to set them on a sa 250d? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:Gaa or diesel? Turn the engine rpms down to lower the ocvs. 98 is stock at 1800 rpmssent while goofing off at workLong after the price is forgotten, the quality will remain. Both of my Poppy's 1954 Short Hoods -Third generation to weld with it and teaching a fourthSA 2## - Bought and sold more than I can remember or care to list, 8 in the shop right now
