I just bought a 68 sa 200 and working on getting it fixed up. Motor runs good after cleaning carb but auto idler is gone. I just ordered an aftermarket idler, air filter and face plate among other odds and ends. Today I tried to prep for some paint and broke the fine tune adjustment trying to get the rusted amp controls off the machine. I soaked the set screws with wd and tried to get them off and wound up drilling them out and still cant get them off . How did yall do this?
Reply:Most of the time the knobs have to be cut off of the machines. Once in a while you can get lucky and get one to pop off but most of the time, the knobs have to be replaced.

Reply:1000$ in parts and fixens but got her done and running like a new one. It welds as good or better than the early 80's sa200 i use now. I have the hood if any body needs one its in pretty good shape. I made a stainless one for this machine..
Reply:What idler setup did you go with? Where are you located, I'm wanting to build a SS hood for mine aswell.Hillbilly Fabworks

Reply:Hey BNF I went with the weld mart idler and am pleased with it so far. I live in Hartwell Ga. Im looking for a good truck to put it on now. Im also looking for some pipe work, Just got finished with a patrolum pipe job near athens. CBP put in 8 holding tanks ranging from 15000 to 25000 gal tanks in witch i run the pipe for MDDI a small engineer group my dad worked on and off for years. I make all the natural gas meter sets for our county and nearby countys. I would like to weld on a big pipe line and have never done it. Any of you guys that have the experience I would like some info or imput. Thanks Kevin..
