I've had this 5HP, 30 gallon, hydraulic power unit in the basement for several years. I've been thinking about using it for a project... but after looking at the nameplate it's limited to 1000 PSI.  It does do 7.5 gpm which is about right for 5 HP. I really wanted to know what kind of pump it had to see if I could do more PSI. I estimate it would do just over 2 gpm at 3000 psi... which would suit my purposes. So I needed to crack it open and find out what kind of pump it uses. A few minutes with the tape measure and I whipped out a quick design. Cut it out on the cnc plasma. I had to guess at the center of gravity... I think I nailed it spot on.  I was so happy with how quick it went I even painted it. The pump turned out to be a Lamborghini SMLPD/U 214D. I can't find any specs on it.  Anyone have any ideas?

Reply:Ahh excuse me for the confucius ehhh confusion, these symbols  looks all the same to me  it's not much information but it can be a place to start...
Reply:Sounds like you just need to turn up the bypass to get more pressure.
Reply:14.5 LPM = 3.83 GPM X 3000 PSI / 1456 ( 85 percent efficiency) = 7.89 HP that is a gear pump on your motor the only way to change the flow is to change the rpm.Mike
Reply:If the pump is capable of 7.5 gpm then you will need 15 Hp at 3000 psiMike

Reply:Yes at 7.5 gpm at 1000 psi it would require 5 hp. The pump is a fixed displacement, it will always produce the same flow at the same rpm. If you use that pump at higher pressure you will still have 7.5 gpm of flow. You would need to have higher HP motor to drive it. You could use a pump that will produce 2.5 gpm at 1800 rpm and reach 3000 psi with a 5 hp motor.  HP = flow in gpm X psi divided by (1714 X Efficiency). 85 percent (.85) in the formula is a good number for a gear pump like what is in your power unit.Mike
Reply:That is a nice bracket you made for lifting it, and you nailed the balance.Mike
