Hey, how does everyone position the hose/line whatever you want to call it, so you are comfy and have better control of the torch when tigging? over the shoulder, wrapped around your arm or hanging from a support or just dragging around the table and floor? it seems im fighting to hold the actual torch in position as the hose wants to pull back on me...Of all the things I lost I miss my mind the most...I know just enough about everything to be dangerous......You cant cure stupid..only kill it...
Reply:I have the same problem, but it's gotten to be less of an issue as the hose has gotten broken in. You just have to figure out where it works best for a given weld, and eventually it'll stop fighting. You can also buy a softer hose if you don't have the time or inclination to break it in.Currently working as a Paralegal, but still interested in hobby welding.Miller Bobcat 225ntOne- Character Fractions: ¼ ½ ¾ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞
Reply:If I can sit, I'll put a loop of hose over one knee. If standing, putting a loop up on the project, instead of the floor, make the hose a bit lighter. +1 on a "superflex" type hose, makes a huge difference. When I had a desk job, doing endless small parts, I had a loop hanging from a hook over and to the right side of the desk. Almost no weight on the torch.I don't know if the stiff, heavy hose will ever break in, but your torch arm might get stronger!SqWave 200Millermatic 190Airco 200 ACHypertherm PM45Boice-Crane Band SawVictor O/A
Reply:ok, sorry forgot to add the hose is very flexible its on both a Lincoln precision tig 225 and the new Lincoln squarewave 200.. I have tried to run the hose through a big clamp thats clamped to the table to take some of the weight off my hand trying to hold the hose and torch and get good hand movement without fatiguing over time..thankyou for the ideas so far..there was a thread on WW that an overhead boom was made to hold the hose up, that looked good, but only if you worked at the same table all the time..Of all the things I lost I miss my mind the most...I know just enough about everything to be dangerous......You cant cure stupid..only kill it...
Reply:I try and always sit when TIG welding. I run a loop over my lap, such that my torch hand is only supporting a foot or two of hose.Miller Multimatic 255
Reply:If I am sitting I hang the hose over my shoulder, standing I do the same or loop over which ever arm I am welding with.
Reply:I just let the hose hang down. I never wrap it around me unless I'm in a funky spot.
Reply:I wrap it around my right arm. Then it's my arm that's dragging the hoses around, not my hand.If I'm sitting at a table, I hang the hoses over a hook overhead to my right, which also helps.

Reply:Either wrap it round my arm if standing up and I walk the cap and find it helps by your arm takes the weight not the wrist. Otherwise have it under left arm up and round my neck and then down over right shoulder if I can't walk sometime still wrapped round arm depending if I am moving while welding if on an awkward job.
