Reply:So are vise grips, all the Irwin stuff, not much news there. I really am not impressed with some of the NEW junk. Its why I look around for old used stuff, cheaper better quality.Fortunately I have a bunch of tools so I don't need much and can pick and chose when I find something useful.
Reply:If your still looking buy channel lock brand, not USA made but Spain, Urrea is another brand that still makes good quality, again a lot made in Spain.
Reply:I Bought a Crescent brand one recently and it is total chinese junk. My older 15 year old Crescent old one works perfect still. Is there any Good ones left, if you have to buy a new one?American by birth Southern by the Grace of God
Reply:Start collecting old tools aggressively if you aren't already. The situation will likely not improve in our lifetimes.

Reply:I ran a couple of threads which nowboby really looked at or cared about. Clamps....Bessey for new, a lot of good used clamps if you look. Locking pliers, and other odd ball wrenches, etc.....Urrea for new, better than my old USA made vise grips, they actually took the time to weld the bent parts on the thread so it doesn't strip out.About 1/3 more on cost. I will also comment on the jaws the new vise grips are soft, if your working on soft plumbers pipe they bite, DOM tube is better steel than the vise grips. |
