I am going to look at one these this week. http://www.probender.com/ It is about 5 years old, the guy inherited it from his uncle who used it very little and he has only hooked it up to make sure the foot control works, he has never actually used it. It has the 1-1/4", 1-1/2", 1-3/4", and 2" die with it as well as a manual notcher. He did not know the model number, only the brand. I think it can be bought for $1000. I am not well versed in these, and do not know what to look for. I have some 1-3/4 x .120 wall to take with me for some test bends. I tried searching the forum, with out much sucess. One thing I did find was some of the older models are no longer supported for new dies/parts. Any feedback or advice is appreciated!!
Reply:thats a decent price.. what ive heard though is  that they are all plasma cut and the fit/finish isnt all that great... i picked up a JMR electric/hydraulic bender (cream of the crop)with 3 dies  for $1100...  i would recommend looking at it first to see how it looks before buying.
Reply:yeah if the parts all look like new as you say & they're all accounted for. sounds like a good deal....
Reply:3 Dies is 600 bucks, the pro bender is 300 bucks and the hydro pac is 700 if all bought new plus freight.  so 1000 is a little high, but not too bad.  Used tools usually bring about 50% of the price new so 800 would be a better price if you can swing it.   If you just have to have it then you could go to a grand, but try it at 800 first.  Look closely for wear in the pin holes of the pivot and the rub blocks for the dies, if they are all galled up the value goes down since they must be refaced to avoid damaging the tube and leaving marks when you bend.  Also a good supply of bending lube is a good idea to get before you start so you will not wear your stuff too quickly.  Hope this helps.BobI'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys?  Trade?
Reply:That is an OKAY price but not a screamin' deal. What I would be careful of is the construction of the bender itself. It "looks" like it is pretty thin material. I would not pay a penny over $800 if the bender's main body is less than 1/2" Cold rolled steel. If it was an electric/hydraulic set up it would be a very good deal. The pneumatic/hydraulic set up is very loud and definitely not my choice for hydraulics.Dies are around $150-$250 each. What I would do is find out what other benders the dies are compatible with and negotiate with seller. Tell seller the body is too weak compared to others (JD2 and ProTools, etc) if in fact it is thin like I suspect. Get the seller down to $800 and you will be in good shape. Sell "your" bender body and buy a protools or JD2 that will allow you to use the dies.Granthttp://jackalopefab.com/MM210Synchrowave 200DXMiller XMT350 w/60series feederMiller Bobcat 250 with SGA 100 and spoolgunHTP PlasmaFull Machine shop with everything
Reply:Link states it uses ProTools 105 dies
Reply:Thanks for the help! If I get off 12's this week I will go check it out and try to post some pics. This is something I don't have a huge use for at the moment, I am just trying to get my shop set up better. Business has been picking up and I am loving it!!
