Am I doing something wrong or did I get a dud...HyperTherm 45

I just got my HyperTherm 45 last week and just got my new decent compressor today.  I have only made maybe 16 inches of cut total in 1/8 mild steel and I have been having a problem.  The machine will start to cut and maybe cut 2 seconds before the torch goes out and the "Fault" light comes on solid, sometimes the light indicating low pressure will flash, but my compressors is not even kicking on and is showing at least 100 PSI so it is not low pressure.  If I try to start back it will start and do the same thing, but sometimes it will cut for several more seconds before doing it again.  I can't image it is a consumables problem as I have only cut 2 feet max.  Please help!Look a lot like this:  (not my video but seems to be the same problem)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ak7Jwamp4z4
Reply:I know if there wasnt a good ground with my old miller that it would fire for a couple seconds and die...make sure you have a good clean ground to the work piece.
Reply:Make sure the consumables are sitting correctly and tightened properly. Set the air compressor as high as it will go, and set the pressure at the plasma with the on-board regulator. If I set the compressor without touching the onboard regulator when I got it, the same thing happened to me.Miller: 200dx, Bobcat 225, Passport, Powermax 45, Milwaukee: Dry Saw, MagDrill, grinders

Reply:The plasma is sensing a momentary pressure drop. I suspect that one of the following will need to be looked at:- Inlet hose size. The system requires a 3/8" ID hose of 50' or less in length. Many air hoses today are of the 1/4" ID variety.-Too many, too small airline quick disconnect fittings.-Additional inlet air filters can also add to the issue above.To test.....turn on your Powermax45, turn the amperage knob all the way counterclockwise (this activates the air flow to the torch), adjust the regulator knob on the Powermax until the :LED's that indicate proper cutting pressure are illuminated. Makes sure the cutting mode selector switch is in the cut position.If.....by increasing the regulator pressure does not provide enough air to illuminate all of the LED's....then you likely have something restricting flow...as listed above. You can have plenty of pressure (back where your pressure gauge is mounted) under static (no flow) conditions.....but a restricting hose or fitting will cause pressure drop as the air gets closer to the plasma. The plasma power supply has a factory set pressure transducer that monitors torch air flow/pressure....this is to save the torch from damage that will result from inadequate air flow. Reply:I would also check voltage of your supply outlet and make sure you have 230V. I had the same problem with my Powermax 30 when I got it. Turned out to be a loose connection on the extension cord I was using. Never a problem after that.
