Reply:It's a shotgun, it can't really "blow up".And I don't think making your own firearms isn't illegal. There might be certain laws requiring homemade guns and cannons of larger caliber be inspected and certified.Welding/Fab Pics: www.UtahWeld.com

Reply:The chamber pressure of a shotgun is pretty low compared to a rifle or pistol. Chamber pressures in that 50 he is building are at least 4x higher - which is why his first prototype didnt work out so well. Definitely going to at least need locking lugs for that.Sent from my S4 using Tapatalk1988 Big 50 Diesel CC/CV1982 Weldanpower 225/2101968 SAE 300 motor generatorMaxstar 200SD2015 AHP 200x"The trouble with our Liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so." - Ronald Reagan

Where are his parents to make sure he doesn't kill himself?  I built some crazy chit but knew better than to play around with guns. Reply:Reminds me of a conversation I had with an Ausie who saw a set of dies used by the Viet Cong.  They could set up a charcoal fire, melt down scrap aluminum from aircraft and in one night outfit a combat group with machine guns.  The guns were good for less than five minutes of combat before jamming.  In a fire fight that five minutes determined if you got yourself a real weapons or you really wouldn't need one anyway.

Reply:Oops, that "isn't" was a typo, I meant is. as in I don't think making your own firearm is illegal.https://www.atf.gov/file/58196/download PDF page 13 firearms with a caliber over 1/2" (excluding shotguns, flares., etc) are classified as destructive devices and are prohibted (...I guess?)I though large bore muzzle loading black powder cannons were legal though. Maybe the muzzle loading part excludes them from this.Last edited by MikeGyver; 12-21-2015 at 05:49 AM.Welding/Fab Pics: www.UtahWeld.com
