Newbie getting into stick and Tig. Will be using an AC/DC stick machine for Tig so I would like to get some stuff that works in that process. Interested in any of your old stuff.Any of the following also- Cups- Lenses- Tungsten- Electrodes for stick- Regulator/ Flowmeter- OA stuff
Reply:What series tig torch will you be using? And what kind of tungsten are you looking for?
Reply:I suggest using this classic thread for info. A 17-series torch is a good choice.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=38106
Reply:I had no idea my rant would become a go to thread.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:That thread is possibly THE most useful thread here. I even refer to it in other forums.
Reply:Looking for a 17 series torch such as a WP-17V. One member has PM's me that he may have a torch set somewhere.I will be working with 1/4" and thinner mild steel and some sheet stainless less than 1/8" thick. So whatever Tungstens will work with those metals and gages is what I would need. I think the 17 series torches use up to 1/8" diameter rods.I found a great LWS and found that an argon bottle is actually very affordable, purchasing or leasing for a year, so I am good on the gas.
Reply:Send me your name and address via P/M..I got a bunch of 1/16" Red end you can have..I have no need for them....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Hey man... I just had my torch and flow meter, and I took them into my local airgas today, and the guy behind the counter was really nice, and set me up with everything I needed. It was awesome, he asked me what id be welding, how many amps is my machine capable of, etc, and I left with a few tungstens, a couple pounds of filler rod, the hose with all the fittings that I needed, 2 tanks of argon, a small assortment of cups, a handful of collets and collet bodies, etc.And once you really know what you need, Ebay has a very nice assortment of stuff, at great prices. A box of 10 tungstens there, costs what 2 did today from airgas. Happy Welding!! [Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009 |
