Band Saw Speed Reduction

Reply:VFD's usually push a high frequency voltage through the windings at low motor speeds to prevent overheating.  VFD's can run a motor all of the way down to its stall rating without overheating the motor.

Reply:I used the gear box off my old front-tine tiller. It has the proper gear reduction and is definitely heavy duty enough for the load... and it was free!
