So a friend of mine was working a trade show for work and hobart was there. He sent me a message and said there a 250ci plasma cutter. They had a demo unit and have been using it for the show. Comes with a few extra tips, no manual, a few extra tips. For an awesome price tag of $600! Time to sell mine now. Reply:I dont care for the plasma cutters with the built in compressors. unless you dont own a compressor.tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/
Reply:I have on but the circuit will blow if both are on, so it's perfect for me.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer

Reply:The 250 ci with a built in compressor puts out a maximum of 12 amps of cutting power. It will cut 1/8" steel (slowly) and possibly can sever 3/16" (very slowly). The 120 volt plasma systems that have an onboard compressor must share input power between the compressor and the plasma. Since 120 volt circuits are typically maxed out with a 20 amp limit.....this only allows for about 12 amps of cutting power.120 volt plasma systems that use an external source of compressed air can output as much as 30 amps of cutting power (for short cuts even from a 20 amp circuit). For more continuous cuts the output power must be reduced to 20-22 amps when operating on a 120 volt, 20 amp circuit.120 volt plasma's with onboard compressors were designed for portable sheet metal work....such as roofing, hvac, light bodywork applications. They were never intended for much metal fabrication use....as they are very limited on output power. Hypertherm discontinued its Powermax190c a few years ago...as there was little demand for this type of unit.Jim Colt Originally Posted by snoeproeThats a 120v unit, correct?25 amp cutter?
Reply:Gotcha. I knew that was a light unit but didnt realise it was only a 12 amp cutter. Much too underpowered for what I do and the price of the unit indicates that.Thanks.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720 |
