Has anyone ever seen one of these or worked with one ?http://www.edwardsironworkers.com/40ton.htmlI.B.E.W Electrician and Damn Proud of It !!!! .Virtus Junxit Mors Non Separabit http://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/
Reply:We use the 55 ton version.  Well built machine and after a year of use no problems.  If you decide later to buy their hydraulic bender, you may want to add the ports for the external hydraulics.  We wanted to add their bender and could not because we did not have the external porting.Miller Bobcat 250 w/wire feederMillermatic 251 w/30A spoolgunHobart 210 w/spoolgunMiller XMT 304 w/s22p12 FeederHTP Tig 200IR 7.5 HP compressorToo Much Stuff

Reply:I have their 65tonNot a great machine, takes too much effort to swap out tools. Limited access to the blades so back measuring is a PITA Had to remove most of the safety shields just to use it. For the money and if you are not doing high production  it is OK.

Reply:Have the 100 ton at my part time job its a good machine for the money.
Reply:I was just reading a thread about iron workers on another site. Looks like some good info.http://www.practicalmachinist.com/vb...worker-242609/
Reply:Seen them, not impressed at all.  Its a cheap entry level ironworker. At least they are US built.  Like FB said, its difficult to see the cutting blades with the guards on. Anyone who does really work with an Ironworker has a GEKA.  I started out with one at my 1st welding job.  When I went out on my own I looked at them all.  Only to come back to a GEKA.  Well worth the extra money spent.Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A  Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers
Reply:I really like my 65 ton. I just keep a brake in the open cavity, and factory notcher/ punch in the others. Cuts thin stainless nice without curl over. The 24" shear works excellent on my unit.  First thing is to remove the safety shields. Although I can slip the clear plastic shield over the punch station without tools. It's built decent, and for $10,000.00 shipped, There was nothing close to that value from anyone else. 4000 lbs. for a 65 ton means it does not move around when cutting. Lot of steel in it.Last edited by Brand X; 03-25-2012 at 09:41 PM.Esab/Lorch ET-220iEsab 160i caddyThermal LM-200 Lincoln feedersThermal Pee-Wee 85sThermal 60i- 3phase /RPC powered (Beast)Thermal Drag-gun 35CINE 1500 Klutch 140i

Reply:If your looking for a true ironworker then geka is the CadillacI have a 120 ton piranha single end punch that is a great machine,   Because i don't need the rest of the ironworker functions as i have other machines for that.for a hobbyist the Edwards would probably be fine.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.

Reply:I have an edwards 55 ton in my shop. Its around 8 years old and doing great.I havent even fliped the blades on the shear yet. I have used almost all the others and wonder why people always talk so bad about the edwards. They are not the nicest machine out there- but for the cost they cant be beat. The parts are standard stuff you can get local and the bolts are all SAE sizes-so easy to get. Then time my pipe notcher has saved paid for the whole machine in a few jobs. The bottom line is the edwards is not the cream of the crop-but will do the job just as well as the others.
