from marvel to zenith..help..

Ok. I went with a zenith carb. On the throttle, between the zenith and marvel, are different. How do I connect the rods? In the pics, the new zenith has a bar with two holes, one above the shaft and one below. On the marvel they both connected above the shaft. How do I deal with this delema. Its almost like I need to swap out the throttle shafts, will they swap? Any one seen this before? Help please.1968 f163My gosh, runs like a dream. Its an old harley! Reply:It's not going to be the easiest carb to retrofit.Your new carb's lever looks peened to the throttle shaft.Some replacement carbs have bolt-on levers, and the kits are packed with a fistful of various levers.To use the new carb, you'll have to somehow transfer the levers, not the shaft.Do both shafts open in the same direction?Be careful not to over speed the engine during your trials.Good Luck

Reply:The levers must remain independent to maintain idler and governor function.

Reply:OK denrep, I realize what you're saying now.  The idler lever moves freely on the throttle shaft and contacts the idler yoke (clamped to throttle shaft) to pull it back to the idle position.  When the vacuum idler 'releases', the throttle shaft is allowed to rotate freely inside the idler lever while being controlled by the governor link and rigid governor lever.I've only fooled with the electronic idler which had fixed levers for both governor and idler links.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:Its been kind of a long story but the marvel has a part missing and for some reason I understood the zenith is a better carb. I did think they would have hooked up the same. The carb lever is pressed. argggg. Reply:Someone sold you the wrong Zenith. We use the Zenith that has the two arms just like the Marvel. Since you have the Zenith, just lightly hit the carb shaft end with small grinder, remove solid arm, move both bolted on arms from Marvel to Zenith, and you are back in business. weldersales
