Well the other day we finally made it to the point where we needed to build the headers for a buddies 1940 ford sedan we're building on the weekends so I broke out my laptop and auto cad and got after it took me a while but got the 3d model done then yesterday I got the driverside header fitup and I must say it's turning out very cool....Overkill is underrated.....

Reply:It's a whole lot more expensive to build a naturally aspirated 600 hp sbf to run on 92 octane than a sbc besides the only thing left ford on this car is the shell cause fatman fabs built the chassis....Overkill is underrated.....

Reply:Yea that one was fun to figure out how to run....  But the time I spent building the 3d model really paid off cause I had to trim only 1/4" off the 2 straights to make them fitOh and by the way I built sbf's before too and out ran a lot of bbc's but I'm a Chevy man at heart.  I personally have a 69 chevelle with a 550hp full roller Spfi 383 going into it that'll also run on 92 octane...  Overkill is underrated.....Last edited by chevyracer8262; 07-01-2014 at 08:13 AM.

Reply:Most headers that I've looked at have those tubes pinched together and welded out but I'm going to look into that once I get the tubes welded and make it to that pointOverkill is underrated.....

Reply:Nice work! I agree with mark, go back to the drawing board and eliminate the hairpin on #4.you'll wish you did after you measure the additional heat that sharp bend creates at the head.

Reply:Got to looking at the headers and decided to mod the 4th tube a little so it would clear the body better I took out one of the 90's added more straight and replaced the 90 with a 60 and worked like a charm....Overkill is underrated.....Mmmmm.... Reply:The purpose for running the tubes over the frame rather than inside is to give clearance to the steering shaft, there's not going to be any issues clearing them and as far as plugs go there's plenty of room to get to them from either up top or underneath...  Which is why I plan to run the wires with those under header looms...  And as far as getting hot we already plan to have them ceramic coated inside and out as well as any areas that'll get close to the tires will be wrapped with header insulationOverkill is underrated.....
Reply:Here's a little update, the driversides completely finished.... After final fitup we took some measurements and the longest tube is within 1/2" of the shortest tube so I'd say those are and close to equal length as it gets Attached Images

Reply:Had to go out of town for work so it's Been a little while but here's some updated pics....  It's finally ready for final weldout....And here's a little shop of the lightweight welding table I built to have something at my buddies garage to do the header and sheet metal fab work on....Overkill is underrated.....
