Hello, My favorite stainless steel pot broke(handle fell off pot) right where it was spot welded... Can I weld this with my purple pure tungsten, or would i need a different type of tungsten altogether? AC currentShould I use a filler rod? prob I wouldn't half to.

Reply:Same thing happened to my wife's frying  pan. Don't know why they didn't just use a bolt or rivet. Anyways I stick welded it with a 309 rod. Only got a stick welder at home. It's holding up better than ever. I'm sure just for a pot any tungsten and any 300 series filler will do.

Reply:DC with 309. It will be good to go for another 40 years. As far as colors of tungsten, the paint lasts a very short while, so I don't bother to go by the manufacturer paint. I keep the same types in the same pack, regardless of size. Just sharpen a bunch of them and swap when needed by habit into the original sleeves. That way they also don't get scooped up with any filler wire stubs on the bench by mistake.RyanMiller Multimatic 200 tig/spool gun/wireless remoteMillermatic 350P, Bernard/XR Python gunsMiller Dynasty 350, Coolmate 3.5 & wireless remoteCK WF1 TIG wire feederMiller Spectrum 375 XtremeOptrel e684Miller Digital EliteMiller Weld-Mask
Reply:Ok thanks! How many AMPS do you think i should weld it at? pretty thin stainless steel.DCEN 309 filler
Reply:If it's thin, shield or protect the back side or you will end up with ugly sugaring to deal with due to atmospheric contamination..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Non-stick =Teflon. The major health effect linked with Teflon is the potential release of dangerous fumes from coated pans that are overheated. These fumes can cause flu-like symptoms in humans (a condition known as polymer fume fever) and can be fatal to birds.
