How hard is the sun beating down on o/a hoses? My wife purchased for me two 50' 1/4" Hobart branded sections for my welder. Should these hoses and regulators be taken off the tanks when not in use and stored, or are they alright to leave exposed? Is it alright to transport these tanks upright in a rack connected, or do the caps need installed onto the tanks when in transport? I've seen both ways in practice so wondering which is correct.SlobPurveyor of intimate unparalleled knowledge of nothing about everything.Oh yeah, also an unabashed internet "Troll" too.....
Reply:The sun is hard on them. Having said that , it's not like they will fall apart in a year. Mine have seen a lot of sun over the last 20 years I've had them and I bought them used. Yes, you need to put the caps back on for transport. Farmer2
Reply:Agree with Farmer as my Buddies set is pretty weather checked and cracked. I keep mine out of the Sun as I store the Regulators out of the weather and theft resistant.
Reply:Then why is my three year old rubber air hose cracking???? Hose is inside man-cave away from sun exposure.... Could it be the UV light and O3 gas from welding???I can't see myself rubbing "Sun-screen" on my hose...That's sick!
Reply:Yes,UV and ozone are very hard on rubber. IF your hoses are cracking, it's time to buy new hoses. The risk of one failing in use isn't worth it...Benson's Mobile Welding - Dayton, OH metro area - AWS Certified Welding Inspector

Reply:I imagine the quality of the air line has to do with it. Harbor freight air lines do not last very long. Sent from my SCH-I545 using TapatalkCRIME SCENES, COURT DATES, FUNERALS, RIDING THROUGH THE CITY WITH A BITCH THAT IS JUST BEAUTIFUL IT'S JUST BUSINESS AS USUAL.
