Hey fellas,I have been wanting to buy a mig for ages just for panel work etc, i came across the lincolin 250s single phase but there is a couple things i dont like such as lack of meters etc. So i was wondering if there are any single phase licolins with remote control volt meters you know all the bells and whistles, And also how does the miller equvilent compare to this lincolin as in duty cycle etc due to the fact that i live in aus i have only found one local dealer that stocks miller and he didnt seem to know much about them. Thanks SteveLast edited by Bozzza; 12-18-2009 at 07:38 PM.
Reply:Hey Steve. I don't know what machines are available in the land of Australia, but the current 250 class machines available stateside by Lincoln and Miller both have digital displays for wirespeed and voltage. In the 250 class, Lincoln calls out 250 amps @ 40%, while Miller hails 200 amps @ 60%. Those are as closely rated in duty cycle as I can figure. What's your choice of colors? http://www.millerwelds.com/products/mig/onephase.phphttp://www.mylincolnelectric.com/Cat...1|&locale=1033Edit: Actually the duty cycle ratings are identical!Last edited by tanglediver; 12-18-2009 at 11:17 PM.City of L.A. Reply:Thanks for the quick responce,I did notice the miller 252 would suit me great it has all the bells and whistles and even 50 more amps of grunt, on the miller site it is 2500 convert that to aus 2800 but the dam local dealer wants 4000 went down there today. Even Lincoln is sort of hard to come by.I contacted their main office here in aus where they make all the flux cored wire its pretty cool building it’s an underground hanger from back in the day and they were telling me that, that shop was responsible for the majority of Lincoln flux core wire that’s going around today... but back to the point the latest Lincoln mig I can find here is a redi mig 250c or 250s with remote wire feeder. I use a 255c at work and that has the digital read out but no one seems to know where I can buy one i even like the loot of the 255xt i just dont understand why lincoln dont have a sit elike miller shows the price and store locator oh well, Oh and also do you think it would be an idea to buy one from America and ship it down here or would it not be worth the hassle over warranty issues etc...or are there any aussies here that might be able to point me in the right direction i really have pined it down to a millermatic 252 or a 255xtThis is all i get when i go on the Australian site total diffrent range.http://www.mylincolnelectric.com/Cat...owse=143|5982|Last edited by Bozzza; 12-19-2009 at 02:37 AM.
Reply:One thing to keep in mind if you get one out of country is import duties. I used to work at a place PT that sold mail order dive gear. Frequently customers would order fron Canada or other countries, not thinking about what the import duties were going to cost them. In some cases it would cost as much or more than what they may have saved on the order.I would suggest you contact someone there that is familiar with shipping and imports and get a solid idea just what it may cost to bring in the item you are interested in first. It's certainly doable. I have a friend who has a customer in Jamacia that he deals with. All the equipment the customer orders has to be shipped in for that account because there is no local source. The duities and shipping just have to be figured in..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Ye i have definitely narrowed it down to the power mig 255 or the millmatic 252, the only problem is getting your hand's on one down here in australia. It also seem's like that insted of the powermig range we have the redi mig which dont have a machine eqivilant to the 255 and there seems to be no place that sells miller's unless you are a wholesaler. So if there are any australians that can point me in the right direction that would really be appreciated.
Reply:Where are you in Aus?

Reply:Try Silverwater welding supplies or National Welding supplies. They wont have any Millers though.Dont think you can get Miller MIGs over here at least not from WIA which is owned by ITW is the importer for Miller and I know that they do not import MIGs.I did hear that someone in Queensland was importing them, but do not know for sure.Last edited by Billy; 12-21-2009 at 03:01 AM.
