So, I finally got a call back. Well, an email back, but still. They mentioned something about a Bennett Test. I found a couple of practice tests, but they seemed to emphasize stuff that wasn't part of the Christian- school college prep education (specifically, things that I *know* are in public school IPC but we didn't cover for whatever reason)- lots of theoretical stuff related to electricity and a couple of arcane Metric interactions of volume and liquid measure.Anyone know what a passing score is? How common it is to give it to new hires? Any advice on taking it?Currently working as a Paralegal, but still interested in hobby welding.Miller Bobcat 225ntOne- Character Fractions: ¼ ½ ¾ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞
Reply:I'm not familiar with that test, but most testing has free online practice tests.I'd suggest google to find a few and try them out.Metric is far from "arcane" - quite the reverse actually.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:Tried that, found two free practice tests and a lot of expensive ($50 and up) test prep kits. There was a third site offering a "free" test, but it just hotlinked to one of the earlier sites' tests. There's also an app, which I'm trying. As for the metric system- let's just say that when you're taught an interaction in correct metric with full prefixes and have to convert to incorrect metric (as in, actually counting past ten), it makes calculating liquid measure from volume a bit sticky.Last edited by teh603; 01-09-2016 at 12:25 PM.Currently working as a Paralegal, but still interested in hobby welding.Miller Bobcat 225ntOne- Character Fractions: ¼ ½ ¾ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞
Reply:Personal opinion, but $50 prep to get a job does not sound expensive to me.Liquid measure and volume are related.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.

Reply:Bennett test is a very simple mechanical aptitude test. VERY simple. If you have any mechanical Aptitude at all, it's a piece of cake.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720 |
