Hello,I have a fabrication shop in Mckinney Texas, and need to find a tapping fluid, that does not need to be washed prior to a welding operation. We are using rapid tap now, and have to wash it off prior to welding.thank you for any guidance,Forrest
Reply:What about a stick lubricant like tap-ease? Less contamination... rapid tap gets everywhere. On my cnc lathe I run Cimstar 3890 which is semi-synthetic run at 5% to 10% with water. I know guys say that coolant makes for poor tapping but I'm running 316L stainless and I have over 200+ tapped holes with this tap. I've been impressed with the lubricity of the stuff and have been thinking of trying some in a spray bottle in place of rapid tap. Definitely cleans up easier. |
